Pokémon FireRed 2 GBA Rom is a fan-made ROM hack that takes place five years after the events of Pokémon FireRed. It features the Johto region, a new Pokémon, a new storyline, updated battle mechanics, and graphics.

The Johto region is fully explorable, with all eight Gyms available to challenge. There are over 50 new Pokémon to catch, including Johto Pokémon and new evolutions of existing Pokémon. The storyline follows a new protagonist as they travel through Kanto and Johto, collecting Gym Badges and challenging the Elite Four. The battle mechanics have been updated to include new abilities and moves, and the graphics have been updated to be more in line with modern Pokémon games.

Pokémon FireRed 2 is a faithful and ambitious sequel to a classic game that is sure to please fans of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon Johto.

The story unfolds five years after the events of Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. The governments of Kanto and Johto decided to merge both regions into one, leading to the limitation of each Pokémon region to having only eight Gyms. Given that Kanto and Johto collectively had 16 Gyms, a decision had to be made regarding which Gyms would cease to exist.

The chosen ones were Viridian, Pewter, Fuchsia, Cinnabar, Mahogany, Blackthorn, Violet, and Azalea Gyms. As a result, the Gym Leaders from those Gyms found themselves without jobs and had to seek new opportunities for the battles they cherished.

Various areas in Kanto have undergone significant changes, both due to human intervention and natural factors. The people of Pewter City, for example, began transforming Viridian Forest into a mine, while Mahogany Town has been heavily affected by flooding from severe storms, rendering it uninhabitable. Some communities have initiated reforestation efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of their towns.

Additionally, Pokémon from both Johto and Kanto regions now inhabit both regions, broadening the diversity of species in each area. This means that you can encounter Johto Pokémon in Kanto and vice versa, fostering a more diverse and integrated ecosystem.
